Volunteer
Help Change Lives
Genesee County Habitat for Humanity is a volunteer-driven organization. We welcome people from all walks of life to join us as we build simple, decent, affordable houses in partnership with God and families in need. Every hour and every dollar that you invest in Habitat brings another member of your community one step closer to realizing their dream of homeownership. Though the vast majority of volunteers have no construction experience or building skills, volunteers are involved in most phases of construction. By working side-by-side with the family who will live in the house, our volunteers experience for themselves the joy created when a family is able to realize their dream of home ownership.
Adopt-a-Day
Adopt-A-Day is designed for corporate sponsors, community organizations and groups of all kinds to come together for a day of team building. The combination of volunteer hours and financial contributions doubles your group’s impact. By the end of a Team Habitat day, your group will be connected with each other and with the community in a truly unique way. The satisfaction that comes from working with your hands, our partner families, and our construction staff will leave your group feeling motivated and fulfilled.
Guide for Senior Volunteers
According to research, volunteers live longer, due to a culmination of benefits discussed in our guide, How to Volunteer as a Senior. Volunteering for Habitat for Humanity may seem intimidating for some seniors but we'd like to encourage them to join with their friends and neighbors for this enriching experience.
